This literature review explores this literature, focusing on the interaction between child development and interface design for children. First, it introduces stages of child development and children’s unique information behaviors and the challenges these present for information retrieval. Then, it describes evaluations of several existing IR interfaces for children. Finally, it reviews systems created to address specific IR challenges that children face.
